Has it already been a year since the First Church of Cannabis tested Indiana's religious freedom law and held its first service at its southeast side church? Holy smoke.
Bill Levin, the charismatic church leader, gained national attention when he presided over that first service on July 1, 2015.
Metropolitan police showed up in force ready to arrest any church members who dared smoke their sacramental plant.
There were no arrests that day. The officers spent most of their time enforcing parking restrictions in the residential neighborhood
