Second cannabis delivery operator eyes Tech Circle site in Natick

For generations, Michael Marinaro’s family honed their cultivation techniques in the vineyards of Naples, Italy. Years later, the first-generation Italian-American is drawing on those techniques — not for grapes, but another agricultural pursuit: cannabis. 

Marinaro, CEO of Tyngsborough-based cultivator BadaBloom!, is part of the team behind Trevor Express, a proposed adult-use marijuana delivery operator seeking to open in Natick.

The company was formed through a partnership with Bada Bloom! — which holds provisional licenses from the state’s Cannabis Control Commission — and Revolutionary Clinics, which operates medical marijuana dispensaries in Cambridge and Somerville.

Trevor Express holds a lease at 1 Tech Circle/211 Oak St. in Natick, close to two other marijuana-related businesses: cannabis, CBD and hemp testing facility Kaycha Labs and proposed delivery operator Your Green Package, both at 16 Tech Circle. 

Trevor Express Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Tara Hopper said she and Marinaro, Trevor’s president, are looking forward to establishing the business in Natick, their hometown.

“Our goal is to be a good partner to the community,” she said during a community meeting Tuesday. “We’re working with local government and law enforcement and area businesses because we want to enhance the neighborhood. We love Natick.” 

To that extent, Trevor Express intends to contribute $30,000 to three local organizations in 2022: Family Promise MetroWest, A Place to Turn and The Center For Arts in Natick (TCAN), Hopper said. 

The company also aims to target the Natick community for priority hiring, according to a Trevor Express presentation shown at the meeting.

With a loading dock designed to receive 18-wheelers, the 1 Tech Circle site is prime for a delivery operation, though Vice President of Delivery Operations John Murphy said during Tuesday’s meeting that the business will use smaller vehicles. 

The site will be armed with a “sophisticated” alarm and anti-burglary system while the business is open, as well as after hours, according to Murphy. 

The delivery vehicles will feature location monitoring and video recording both inside and outside the vehicle, he explained, and delivery drivers will wear body cameras to record individual transactions. Customers will need to pre-verify their identification in order to purchase and receive deliveries. 

“In terms of security, we’re really looking forward to maintaining and setting the standard for cannabis security not just in Natick, but the state at large,” Murphy said.
