Hemp continues down the road of return as a standard U.S. row crop, with 23,343 acres in 2017, despite federal prohibition.

The 2017 U.S. Hemp Crop Report documents the ongoing hemp march: Acreage more than doubled from 2016, and state licenses were issued to 1,424 producers.

Farmers in 19 states grew hemp in 2017 and 32 universities conducted hemp research.
