TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who loudly opposed a medical marijuana measure that appeared on the 2014 ballot, is staying on the sidelines this time around.

Bondi said she is still opposes the effort to legalize medical marijuana, but the state's top legal officer is remaining silent on whether the Florida Supreme Court should block the latest version of the ballot initiative.

Oregon has 1 million pounds of unsold cannabis, and it reveals the state's marijuana-surplus problem - Cannabis News

After two votes this week, the state is set to start investing extra marijuana tax money in social goods like schools, scholarships, and drug abuse prevention, trying to make good on its promise that legalizing cannabis would benefit all Coloradans.

Coloradans were feeling generous last week.

Two thirds voted in favor of Proposition BB, which allowed the state to hold on to all money raised through marijuana taxes, after Colorado became the first in the nation to legalize and tax recreational use, in 2012.

State law mandates that voter-approved taxes, like the one on marijuana, be returned to citizens if revenue is higher than predicted in the first year. This year, the overflow would have given each Coloradan roughly $8. Instead, they voted to let the state hold on to its $66 million, of which $40 million will go to school construction, $2.5 million to drug education, and another $2 million to other youth programs.

But you’ll have to deal with writing a load of rules and regulations, like licensing standards for distributors. A first in California.

3 Reasons Why Cannabis Is a Powerful Superfood

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — Brandon Emmett grew up around marijuana. His first job was turning compost on a marijuana farm for $5 an hour. He later moved to trimming and then cloning plants. His uncle was also a grower.

The dangers of marijuana preached at his public high school in Oregon never rang true. The marijuana users Emmett knew were decent people.

“I have always been part of the cannabis culture,” he said. “People talk about ‘Reefer Madness.’ I just know that that is not true.”
