Boston mayor signs ordinance to promote equity in marijuana licensing - Cannabis News

Mayor Marty Walsh on Tuesday signed an ordinance revamping the city’s approval process for marijuana businesses.

Boston does not yet have a single recreational marijuana store open, and some businesses have complained that the process is difficult to navigate.

“This ordinance ensures those who have been impacted hardest by the War on Drugs will benefit most from this economic opportunity,” Walsh said in a statement.

“I am proud to sign this legislation that will increase transparency and accountability, and support diverse and local ownership in this new industry.”
