Kyla Doedtman of Effingham never thought she would become an advocate for medical marijuana, but a battle with an aggressive and rare form of breast cancer changed everything.
The 44-year-old first turned to medical marijuana for relief from back pain caused by a back injury.
“My journey actually started with the medical marijuana over a year ago," she said.
"I had been on pain pills due to an injury for 2 1/2 years, and my doctor brought (medical marijuana) to my attention. I was reluctant at first, like most everybody would be, and after discussing it with my kids (and) after about eight months of contemplating it, I finally decided ‘OK, I’m going to try this. We’re going to do this.’”
