After months of delay, state officials granted Maryland's first preliminary medical marijuana licenses.
The state's Medical Cannabis Commission will grant preliminary licenses this afternoon to companies trying to get Maryland's long-delayed medical marijuana program off the ground.
The panel is scheduled to approve 15 grower and 15 processor licenses from a pool of several hundred applicants, who have been waiting months for the decision and years for a law first enacted in 2013 to come to fruition.
