Marijuana sales spike in Oregon during the holidays – Marijuana News
EUGENE, Ore. - 2015 marks the first holiday season for recreational marijuana in Oregon. For many local pot shops, sales around Christmas day were holly jolly.
"I don't know that it was people buying Christmas presents, or people trying to deal with their in-laws. I'm not sure," said Jim Murphy from TJ's Organic Provisions.
Many people are used to shopping during the holiday season, but marijuana isn't a typical item to find under the tree. At TJ's Organic Provisions, holiday sales were high, especially around Christmas.
"I think we were 40 percent over normal sales the day before and the day after," Murphy said. He said they didn't expect a rush.
He said the standard holiday combination of family and free time helped the bump in sales.
