Only a fraction of the 60 planned medical marijuana dispensaries opened in the state this week.
Illinois state regulators have authorized only about 3,300 patients — a far cry from the 100,000-plus originally projected.
But industry officials remained optimistic that more patients will sign up now that the four-year pilot program has become a reality.
