The next U.S. attorney general is going to have to respect the decision of Colorado and other states to legalize recreational and medical marijuana — at least if Republican Sen. Cory Gardner has his way.

The more states that legalize cannabis, the likelier it is that federal prohibition will topple soon.

There are glimmers of hope now that Sessions has left office. For all of his anti-cannabis bluster, it seems like his former boss doesn’t share his opinion, and that could lead to new legal protections for the industry.

Marijuana proponents were elated Tuesday after major cannabis measures passed in Michigan and Missouri and Democrats took control of the House.

“Marijuana is going to win big today, and it’s going to win in a number of places,” GOP Strategist Michael McKeon predicted on Market Movers ahead of the outcome of today’s midterm elections.

After the mid-term elections, the nation may look even more cannabis-friendly.

Legal pot is poised to spread further across the country this Election Day, with millions of voters casting ballots that could roll back marijuana prohibition in two states and expand access to medical cannabis in two others.

They want the creation of a state-run bank to handle medicinal marijuana money.

Entrepreneurs and investors who are flocking to the industry say legalization is inevitable in the U.S. But while more than 60 percent of Americans support making pot legal, the politics remain fraught.
