MADISON, Wis. - House Speaker Paul Ryan said he believes he can get support in Congress to legalize a form of marijuana oil -- called CBD oil -- to treat childhood seizure disorders.
News 3 asked Ryan about the measure that he has signed on to but that has waned in Congress in recent months.
“It’s going to take a while to get through the legislative process just like any other bill in Congress,” Ryan said in an interview Monday. “This oil does not have THC in it, so therefore it really shouldn’t be lumped into the category of anything close to legalization of marijuana and that’s the confusion that typically surrounds the issue.”
Ryan said Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pennsylvania, has been shepherding the bill through Congress and he does believe they will ultimately get support to pass the measure in the House.
